This is a brief description of the job duties:

The Civil Technician will be responsible for supporting Portage County Highway Department staff in the planning, designing, administration, and construction of capital improvement and maintenance projects. This seasonal position is responsible for conducting field inspections, gathering field data, surveying, contractor oversight, and office design work- all of which are related to various infrastructure, maintenance, and improvement projects for the Portage County Highway Department. This position may also assist in data collection and perform office engineering work. This position may perform manual labor and may work overtime as needed.

These are the skills we seek:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Post High School classes in the Civil Engineering field required, Associate degree preferred.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Prior experience in a similar work environment preferred.
