This is a seasonal position. Portage County does not offer a benefit package for seasonal employment.
This is a brief summary of the job duties:
This position works cooperatively with the Aging & Disability Resource Center's Elder Benefit Specialist to provide information, counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries age 60 and older about the Medicare Prescription Drug Program (MC Part D), the Part D Low Income Subsidy (LIS) and the Medicare Savings Program (MSP). The Benefit Specialist – Prescription Drug Assistance position is part of the basic State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) grant and the Office of Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) grant. This position will receive both initial and ongoing training through Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources (GWAAR) and the State of Wisconsin with day-to-day supervision provided by the ADRC Assistant Director.
These are the skills we are seeking:
Minimum of two years’ experience in a position with similar responsibilities required.
High School diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Background in health benefits or health insurance area and/or experience working in an advocacy or administrative capacity in the public benefits area or as a paralegal is helpful.
