This is a description of the job duties:

This position is responsible for a wide variety of library-related tasks that support the activities of the library, including but not limited to customer service activities at service desks, clerical, material handling, and data entry activities. This classification is also responsible for a wide variety of library-related tasks involving the preparation of material for the shelves and circulation (labeling, stamping, covering, taping, etc.), repairing materials as needed, may also be involved in other tasks which support the activities of the library program in all library work locations.

 

Must relate well with the public, other library staff, volunteers, children, and young adults, be adaptable and flexible. Basic clerical, office equipment, and computer skills including the Internet required.
Cooperates with other library personnel in carrying out the library's mission. Maintains rapport with public by responding to their various library-related requests efficiently and cheerfully. 20 hours/week, typically at the Portage County Public Library, Stevens Point; however, may assist at other county public library sites (Almond, Plover, Rosholt) as scheduled or necessary. May drive library vehicle. This position includes regularly scheduled evening and weekend work. May receive day-to-day instructions and/or assignments from senior staff in the technical services section or Library Specialist in circulation work unit.

These are the skills we are seeking:


High school diploma, or equivalent.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and good driving record.
Previous library experience preferred.
