This position is responsible for a wide variety of library-related tasks that support the activities of the library's Youth services work unit. This position performs a variety of basic customer service activities at the children's service desk, as well as clerical and data entry activities. Under general direction of librarian, incumbents participate in storytelling, tours and other activities aimed at children and teens. Incumbents may participate in the delivery of appropriate library materials and outreach activities to daycares and other sites located throughout Portage County. May drive library vehicle to various sites in Portage County.

Maintains rapport with public by responding to their various library-related requests as efficiently and cheerfully as possible. 20 hours/week primarily at 1001 Main Street, Stevens Point; may assist at other county public library sites (Almond, Plover, Rosholt) as scheduled or necessary. May drive library vehicle. This position includes regularly scheduled evening and weekend work.

May receive day-to-day instructions and/or assignments from senior staff in the youth services work unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous library experience preferred
• Background in children’s and/or young adult literature and/or childhood education preferred
• Ability to have regular and dependable attendance at workplace including evening and weekend hours
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
