This is a brief description of the job duties:
This is a supervisory and administrative position overseeing county highway maintenance and construction activities. This position directly supervises all county highway construction and maintenance jobs which include asphalt paving, crackfilling, chipsealing, culvert and drainage work, grading, tree removals, etc. This position exercises independent judgment in accomplishing daily work programs. At the discretion of the highway commissioner, this position has the authority to implement disciplinary action in his absence. This position will be included in the 24 hour on-call rotation with the other managers and will be available to supervise emergency operations as well as snow and ice control operations.
These are the skills we are seeking:High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or related field strongly preferred.
Commercial driver license and safe driving record required.
Seven years of experience in highway maintenance and construction required.
Three years of supervisory experience required. Over 5 years of supervisory experienced strong preferred.
Equivalent experience, knowledge and professional training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Must be available to be called to work seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day to handle emergency work conditions.
