This is a brief summary of the job duties:

This position is a self-motivated and primarily self-directed position responsible for the daily and continued care of County owned grounds. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all grounds maintenance equipment and for the development and execution of all preventative maintenance schedules. This position is responsible for all aspects of grounds maintenance including snow and ice removal, care of lawns, trees and flower bed maintenance. This position is a self-motivated and primarily self-directed position, working primarily outdoors with a weather dependent flexible schedule including weekday, weekend, evening and night work. Notifies other Facility Management staff what duties need completion. May assist with custodian duties as needed.

These are the qualifications we are seeking:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in urban forestry preferred.
  • Three years’ experience in landscaping, equipment operation, construction, or similar work environment preferred.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Preventative Maintenance Programs preferred.
  • Must possess or obtain a Wisconsin Pesticide Applicators License within twelve months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass chainsaw certification training.
  • Must pass Caregiver and FBI criminal background check which will be conducted by the Portage County Sheriff’s department. Must not have any felony convictions.
