Description
Portage County Health and Human Services is looking to hire a LTE (limited term) Community Nutrition Educator to join our team. This position provides nutrition assessment and programming for WIC and Fit Families participants, community groups, and health professionals as well as routine maintenance of the WIC and Fit Families program. This position is 24 hrs per week.

Functions within the Provision of WIC and Breastfeeding Services, including:
- Screen, assess and certify eligible WIC participants
- Assess physiological, psycho/social, educational, and economic health factors in determining health/nutrition status of clients.
- Develop client-based nutrition behavioral goals.
- Refer clients to appropriate support systems and community partners.
- Complete electronic records and client files.
- Provide breastfeeding promotion and support as standard WIC practice
- Recruit and enroll eligible families into Fit Families Program.
- Establish client-based S.M.A.R.T. behavioral goals, assess monthly progress, identify family specific strategies to achieve goals and document findings monthly.
- Provide appropriate nutrition education reinforcement item (NERI) to families.
- Involve community partners for promoting Fit Families program messages.
- Complete and submit tracking logs and participants surveys upon request.
- Collaborate with the Portage County WIC Fit Families Coordinator for program implementation and training needs.
Functions within the Provision of Community Nutrition Services, including:
- Attend appropriate continuing education, planning, evaluation, and other meetings as needed.
- Partner with appropriate committees, organizations, and work groups to support nutrition services.
- Coordinate breastfeeding promotion and support activities with private and public
- Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics or related field required.
- One year WIC experience preferred.
- Experience with multi-cultural groups preferred.
- Breastfeeding training required.
- Maintain CEU’s specific to breastfeeding to maintain credentials.
- Maintain at least 50 hours of ADA approved CPE’s (continuing professional education) every five years.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Registration with American Dietetic Association preferred.
