Because this position works less than 20 hours/week it does not offer a benefit package.

This is a summary of the job duties:

The Administrative Associate I position supports the administration of the Portage County Public Library in a confidential, timely, accurate, and efficient manner; assisting with administrative activities, and performing clerical functions of the Library in accordance with the Library mission and vision. In this capacity, the employee is responsible for referring all telephone calls and patrons to proper personnel. Employee is responsible for a portion of the work surrounding the Portage County Public Library Board of Trustees and Portage County Public Library Foundation Board of Directors, meeting notices. This includes word processing, typing, filing, photocopying, taking/transcribing meeting minutes, night meeting attendance, and County Board related follow-up, etc.

 

This position provides backup for the Office Supervisor, as needed and also provides backup clerical support to all Library sections (Administration, Youth Services, Reference, Circulation, Extension, and Technical Services), with similar duties as those mentioned previously. Work requires the exercise of a high level of discretion. May type correspondence, including confidential material (Library records are confidential pursuant to WI Statutes Chapter 43.30). Ability to use PCs, PC software, and Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook required. May assist with entering items into Library Financial software.

 

16 hours deemed normal but work as necessary, primarily at the Portage County Public Library, Stevens Point; however, visits and assists at other county public library sites (Plover, Stevens Point, Rosholt, Almond) as scheduled or necessary. May drive Library or personal vehicle for business related functions. This position may include weekend and evening work. This position may occasionally fill-in at any of the public service desks of the library.

 

These are the skills we are seeking:

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of one year experience in an office setting preferred.

Possession of valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license and access to an insured vehicle.

Experience with marketing, public relations, maintaining websites and social media highly desired.

Familiarity with PCs, PC software and trends in technology is expected, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel & Access).

Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
