Summary:

 

The Lincoln Center Dining Site Manager is responsible for the successful operation of a noon dining site. Responsibilities include: oversight of food service for the congregate site; packing meals for home delivery; outreach to new and absent participants; dining site educational and social activities; assisting individual participants to obtain community services; volunteer recruitment and supervision; record-keeping. This position has primary responsibility for the coordination of the county-wide home-delivered meals program which includes completing program intakes, communicating daily/ongoing schedule changes for participants to other site managers and delivery personnel, and upkeep of the primary client files.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

A. Working with Participants and Volunteers

Foster a hospitable and caring atmosphere:

1. Welcome participants on arrival.

2. Help newcomers complete an intake form. Be alert for special needs such as diet, health, physical limitations, or socialization problems. Be alert for any changes in these areas in current participants.

3. By means of home visits, phone calls or cards, recruit new participants and keep in contact with "regulars" who have become inactive.

4. Contact any people who may have made reservations but did not attend.

5. Arrange transportation when needed.

6. Maintain communication with home-delivered meal recipients, their families or caregivers. Includes updating route records on a daily basis and monitoring the safe distribution of scheduled meals. Follow up on any safety check concerns (no answer), including emergency contacts. Follow up on any reported changes in client conditions including contacting family and utilizing supervisor & ADRC Community Resource staff as appropriate.

7. Perform in-home assessments/reassessments as instructed by Nutrition Program Manager.

8. Recruit, train, and supervise adequate and appropriate volunteer staff for efficient operation of the site and delivery of home-delivered meals.

a) Supervise any placements from schools or community service workers or job training enrollees.

 

B. Working with Food

Oversee meal service that is appealing and which will contribute to the health of participants:

1. Order meals based on reservations.

2. Supervise the food service according to Wisconsin restaurant codes.

3. Monitor packing and distribution of scheduled home-delivered meals, including those purchased by other agency.

4. Maintain adequate supplies at the site.

a) Order from central stores.

b) Purchase approved supplies as needed.

5. Make dining area as comfortable and inviting as possible and to best facilitate serving of food by cleaning, moving, and/or arranging furnishings and equipment.

 

C. Duties Unique to Lincoln Center Site Manager

4. Provide coverage to coordinate the county-wide Home Delivered Meal intake process. 1. Manage food service for the Adult Day Center.

2. Pack meals and provide client support for other dining site routes on non-serving days.

3. Coordinate the home delivered contracted delivery route. Include maintaining communication with delivery personnel, participants and family/caregivers.

5. Organize food service for special events at Lincoln Center (e.g., holiday meals, evening meals, banquets, teas, etc.)

6. Send special diet or extra frozen entrees to rural dining sites as needed.

7. Manage repair and maintenance of kitchen equipment through contact with Facilities staff, and service vendors as necessary.

8. Assist the Nutrition Program Assistant with Liquid Nutritional Supplement Program.

 

D. Community Involvement

As an ADRC staff representative, the Site Manager must know about services available for older people in the county and promote department services and activities:

1. Make daily announcements, post displays, and contact participants individually to inform them about programs and services available at the dining site and in the community.

2. Solicit participant input into site operations by means of site councils, questionnaires, or discussions.

3. Maintain working relationships with other staff at the ADRC cooperate with other users/programs of the facility.

4. Appropriately decorate the site for changing seasons and holidays.

5. Recognize birthdays and other special occasions.

6. Organize at least one informational or recreational site activity each week (including those with an intergenerational focus).

7. Distribute department materials to various locations in the community.

8. In case of a disaster may be required to assist in disaster relief efforts.

 

E. Program Income

1. Generate donations within program guidelines; collect, deposit, and record.

2. Insure confidentiality of individual donations.

 

F. Other Duties

1. Compile and record site information accurately and submit reports on time to include weekly computer attendance sheets, monthly site reports, and volunteer reports.

2. Attend staff meetings or trainings as directed.
3. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

High school diploma or equivalent. Successful experience initiating and managing community activities. Successful experience coordinating volunteers. Food service experience helpful but not required.

  9. Knowledge of programs and services for older adults available from the ADRC and other agencies.

  10. Knowledge of food service management.

  11. Ability to follow instructions and to be flexible.

L. Ability to maintain regular, consistent and reliable attendance.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must wear enclosed-toe, non-skid-soled shoes.

  2. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for work-related travel.

     

    Blood-Borne Pathogens Category

This position is in the no exposure category for blood-borne pathogens and will follow all recommended training and procedures for this category.
