The Portage County Health & Human Services department is hiring a part-time (24 hrs per week) WIC Aide to join the team! Enjoy part-time hours while still being eligible for insurance, vacation and sick time!
Starting pay is $16.41 / hour
Summary of the position:
This position performs intake and outreach activities, record maintenance, clinic and office computer operations, filing, end-of-the-month and record reporting. This position assesses client program eligibility including income determination, health assessments and Wisconsin Well Woman Program activities.
What are some of the primary job duties?
Client Activities
- Schedule client appointments, provide appointment reminders and provide program instructions.
- Respond to questions regarding program eligibility, services, and community organizations and refer to area resources as appropriate.
- Provide intake to walk-ins and schedule appointments as needed. Make referrals as appropriate.
- Assess income, demographic, and categorical eligibility.
- Maintain benefit eligibility for participants.
- Conduct anthropometric measurements and record.
- Conduct immunization assessments and complete ROSIE screen.
- Perform hemoglobin tests and enter in ROSIE.
- Clean equipment at the end of clinic day.
- Lead screens as directed.
- Maintain electronic data system.
- Issue benefits prescribed for WIC participants.
- Review system changes as completed by state.
- Review reports specific to caseload, benefit issuance status, etc. for daily operations.
- Process system updates and keep policies current.
- Access Forward Health data system for WIC and Wisconsin Well Woman Program.
- Access WIR data system for WIC lead program
- Maintain social media activities
What are the minimum requirements?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong preferred. If bilingual, ability to pass a Language Proficient Test before hire is required.
- One year clerical experience, serving families of varied cultural/socio-economic backgrounds preferred.
- Experience working with racial and ethnic populations.
- Health related experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
